Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel.  Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind).  So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me?  Pantser?  I think?  But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid.  And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly.  And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. 2011 - the year of catching up

At least to begin. I've been working on a few projects that are either past due or due soon. I really underestimated how much free time I would have to draw with the little one around. I find myself contemplating "Should I get to work or hold my daughter for a while?" Guess which choice ALWAYS wins? ;) Going forward I'll definitely be pacing myself better, and won't take on anything that I don't have a god amount of time to complete. Doing anything complex with a less-than-30-day turnaround just isn't gonna happen. I hate turning down work because I really enjoy drawing, but I'll be concentrating more on personal commissions and family time. I'll still be doing official stuff, for sure, but maybe at a more low-key level. I say that now, but then I'll get a notice for another Star Wars gig.... :yoda:

tell me about it. I also hate when I've been working on something for a while and I'm finally nearing it's completion and rush it...always end up turning something that potentially could have been alright into crap real fast hehehe. It's my super power. :D

I honestly feel my work turns out better when I'm under pressure. When I'm forced to do something quickly it tends to have more life to it than something that I labored over for hours. Plus if I spend too much time on something I tend to over-work it and add a little too much, then I have to force myself to stop at some point and I'm never happy with the finished result as I regret having added this or that.

Why can't art be easy? ;)

I tried doing my work much more quickly and I must say...the results are much better. :O :heart: I'm by no means under pressure, but you're right. Less tweaking = better.
